Haley Schoenfelder

A champion for young student learning, Haley Schoenfelder is Maple Music’s primary early childhood educator. She leads research-based Music Together® and Rhythm Kids® classes for kids aged 0-8 and their grownups. These classes not only develop kids’ innate music ability, but foster cognitive and social-emotional development using playful, musically rich, and engaging content. A core belief of this system is that all children can learn to dance and sing just as naturally as they learn to walk and talk. Haley started the first Music Together center in Logan, IA and has grown the small-town program into full classes beloved by the surrounding community. Additionally, she also instructs beginner group and private piano lessons at this location, bringing the number of rural piano players from zero to nearly forty in a few short  years.

From 2021 to 2024, Haley worked as the K-6 music teacher at Logan-Magnolia Schools in Logan, Iowa. Her duties included all general music instruction, 5th grade band, 6th grade band, and assisting with the school’s 6th-8th grade jazz band. Under her leadership, Logan-Magnolia’s 5th and 6th grade bands continued to enroll and retain more than 95% of the student body. Her work with the jazz band led to a 2nd place finish at the SW Iowa Jazz Festival in 2023 and 2024 and multiple soloist awards for both years. During her first year as a full-time teacher, Haley initiated the school’s first elementary musical program. Performing Disney’s 101 Dalmatians, The Jungle Book, and The Lion King, her ensembles have met sold out audiences and were invited to perform at Omaha’s Holland Center in 2022.

Haley is a 2020 graduate of The University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. While attending school, she served as a collegiate board member of the Wisconsin Music Educators Association, working to increase advocacy for music programs across the state. In 2019, she was asked to speak to the Wisconsin State Senate Education Committee about the importance of music education. Through the work of her team, legislation was passed to include state music education data as part of a school’s public profile. Haley is proud to have been a member of the UW-Madison Marching Band and the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps.

Alex Albertson

At Maple Music Studios, Alex Albertson is primarily a percussion educator of all ages and ability levels. His core belief is that all students are capable of achieving excellence through steadfast dedication to hard work. However, he is also a huge believer in students having a fun, positive, and rewarding experience while improving on their instrument. As a former band director, he is also thrilled to teach any band instrument through the high school level. Students enrolled in lessons from Alex have gone on to earn multiple positions with the Iowa All-State Band and Orchestra, perform with Drum Corps International and Winter Guard International Ensembles, and earn scholarships at colleges throughout the nation.

Alex has been privileged to direct and design for Railmen Indoor Percussion, leading the group to a 4th place finish in 2018 and a silver medal finish at the 2019 WGI World Championships. He spent 2012 through 2021 working as an educator, music arranger, and lead show designer for the Colt Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps. These ensembles further support his fundamental belief in helping entry-level students learn the life lessons of hard work through music performance.

Previously, Alex served as a music teacher at Logan-Magnolia Community Schools in Logan, Iowa. His responsibilities included teaching the fifth grade, sixth grade, junior high, and high school concert bands, as well as the Panther Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Pep Band. During his time at Logan-Magnolia, the band program earned numerous first-time accolades. These include placing in the top 8 at the Iowa Jazz Championships from 2019 through 2024, earning Division 1 ratings in marching and concert band from 2019 through 2024, and being selected to perform for the Iowa Bandmasters Association Conference in 2020. Alex is most proud of being able to help expand the LM music teaching staff in 2021 due to more than tripling the student enrollment of the band program.

Alex earned his Bachelor's degree in music education from Western Illinois University. During his time there, he was named a winner of the annual WIU School of Music Concerto/Composition Competition, where he performed with the university's orchestra. He was an avid fan and member of WIU’s Steel Band every semester, touring to various Illinois grade schools. He is also proud to be an alumnus of the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps and Rhythm X Indoor Percussion.
